Why is football the No.1 sport in the world?

0

The beautiful game can bring together people from all walks of life in a way that few other sports can. If you are searching for something that unites people in the way that football does, you will be hard-pressed to come up with some good examples.

Here are some of the reasons why football is the number one sport throughout the world.

Easy to Play

Other sports and competitions have a complex set of rules and requirements. They may need you to have a specific set of equipment that would make it difficult to jump in and just start playing whenever you choose. This is not the case with football. Football is one of the most accessible games in the entire world.

Millions of people of all skill levels are playing football across the world. Whether you are playing with the best equipment out there or you are just dropping a couple of jumpers on the grass to act as goalposts in the park, it is so easy to get a game of football going. You will rarely find a sport that is enjoyed by so many on the amateur level.

Plenty to Enjoy Beyond the Game

Football has one of the biggest draws in pop culture and this has spawned countless products and services that try to appeal to those who love the game. For example, just take a look at the sheer number of football-themed games out there. If you are a football fan who is looking for something fun to play, you are never going to have to look far.

Whether you are trying out some betting to place a few wagers on your favourite team or you are buying the new season kit to wear to a home or away match, there is always something new to engage with in the world of football.

All Cultures

People of many diverse backgrounds come together to share their love of football. A big event like a world cup is just as much a celebration of different cultures as it is about playing the game. People do not even have to speak the same language to get a game going.

Football is called the beautiful game and it is a fitting nickname. There are few things humanity shares that can bring us together the way football does. It is the number one sport in the world because it is able to unite us and help us work together in a positive way. Whether we are watching a match or looking for top football rumours, there is always something good to find.

No matter whether you play football in a professional team, an amateur 5-a-side at work, or just have a kickabout with your kids when you can, there is always a way you can engage with the world of football. Think about some of the reasons why you enjoy football so much. Chances are, there are millions of people all around the globe who enjoy it for exactly the same reasons. This is why football is the number one sport out there.

Norfolk Police issue e-fit of turnip thieves

0

By Hugh Dunnett, Crime Correspondent

Norfolk Police have released an e-fit of four men they want to question after bags of turnips were stolen from a barn.

The suspects were seen running away from Bubba Spuckler’s smallholding near Downham Market, each with a bulging sack over their shoulders.

Officers were called to the area by Betty-Lou, who is Mr Spuckler’s sister and the mother of their eight children after she spotted four men vaulting over a brick wall into the fields behind her yard.

Police spokesperson Sgt Lorraine Fisher, 34, said: “Unfortunately, Miss Spuckler said the four men had no distinguishing marks or features, and looked very much like every other man in Norfolk.

“But she did manage to build this e-fit image with our police artist, and we hope it may help jolt someone’s memory or conscience. The turnips were not worth a great deal, but Mr Spuckler tells us they were of great sentimental value.”

The police spokesman added: “If anyone recognises any of the men, they are urged to contact their local police station immediately. Criminals should know we no have a zero-tolerance policy to rural crime – which is why we armed all our officers with pitchforks.”

Mr Spuckler and his sister were too upset to comment when contacted by the Suffolk Gazette yesterday, although we understand they are “comforting each other”.

Payment options for slot deposits explained

Choosing an online casino to play at can be a lengthy process. A casino like Dream Jackpot that offers a large selection of slots including new releases always grabs the attention of potential punters. Online casinos that are easy to navigate through are a plus too.

Other Customer Favourites

Another star attraction for potential customers to new casinos is the welcome bonus that casinos offer. A good package should include some free cash and free spins and wagering requirements should be pretty low. Better still are free spins that are completely free of the shackles of wagering rules.

Feeling Secure

However, the single most important factor that influences potential new customers is the security of the casino. A good casino would have its own on-site security and the deposit options available would be tried and trusted options that have been used regularly without any problems.

Casinos spend millions annually on security and this includes choosing the most tried, tested and secure banking partners possible, as player security is paramount. Once you have had your identity electronically verified during the casino sign-up process, you will then be ready to start playing with real cash.

However, tighter laws now mean that some individuals will need to verify their accounts further still, with photographic identification and proof of address documentation, before they can even deposit. Once this has all been provided, you will need to top up your casino account balance with cash funds before you can even spin a slot for real. From April 2020 you will no longer be able to gamble with credit cards, so these options will be off the table by law.

Payment Options

All casinos present their customers with a reasonable choice of secure banking options that are user-friendly. The easiest and quickest way to deposit is with a debit card. To register these cards you will have to go to the banking section of your account and add your card to your payment methods. Each time you make a deposit, you will have to enter the CVV number on the back of the card. Other payment options that you may have come across that are very popular are E-wallets. These are digital wallets that allow you to make transactions with compatible sites. The beauty of an E-wallet is that it adds another layer of security to the payment process.

The most used E-wallets are Paypal and Skrill. These are popular worldwide and are accepted by most casinos. The only downside is that E-wallet depositors are sometimes excluded from welcome bonuses and other promotions.

Setting up an E-wallet is simple, all you do is visit the chosen wallet provider, then, register an account and link your bank accounts with your wallet. Deposits are immediate and payouts are fast and free of charge.

No Bank Required

If you want to bypass banks altogether then topping up with a prepaid Paysafecard is the obvious choice. All these methods make moving money a quick and secure process.

Cast Away Wilson the volleyball finally rescued

Castaway Wilson the volleyball

Cast Away Wilson the volleyball has finally been rescued, 19 years after Tom Hanks was picked up by a container ship in the Pacific Ocean.

While the world rejoiced at Hanks’ return to civilisation after four years stuck on a desert island, nothing was heard of Wilson again.

But this week it was revealed the volleyball, who was last seen floating helplessly away from Hanks’ raft in Cast Away, had been found by a fishing boat.

Wilson had been bobbing around in the sea for the 18 years since Hanks was picked up.

Trawler skipper Steve Walshe said: “We were heading back to port when we spotted something in the water.

“When we got a bit closer we realised it was a volleyball with a distinctive red face.

“Unbelievably it was Wilson, and he was still alive if a little deflated.”

Cast Away Wilson

Wilson, 22, is now being cared for at a sports hospital in Los Angeles before beginning the long process of being integrated once again into the modern world.

He has not been able to speak a word since his rescue and is clearly traumatised by the initial plane crash in 1995, four years of being spoken to by Tom Hanks on a desert island, and then 19 years of drifting in the sea.

Volleyball behaviour expert Lorraine Fisher, 34, from Suffolk, explained: “Poor Wilson will be under enormous emotional strain.

“He needs to be reintroduced to society slowly, and hopefully one day he will be bouncing around again and be able to have a family.”

She said it was unlikely he would make it to professional volleyball games, so she will have no use for her William Hill Plus card, which she uses to bet on sport.

Millions of cinema-goers still cry recalling the scene when Wilson fell off Hanks’ raft and floated away into oblivion.

It was always assumed he had drowned or had been torn apart by sharks.

McDonald’s drive-thru reopens in Ipswich causing traffic chaos

Queues for the McDonald’s drive-thru in Ipswich (Photo: Lorraine Fisher, 34)

This amazing photo shows Ipswich at a standstill because fast-food giant McDonald’s reopened its drive-thru restaurants.

Our exclusive snap from reader Lorraine Fisher, 34, shows the A14 blocked as desperate motorists tried to get to the McDonald’s in Ravenswood, Ipswich.

It turns out people who are apparently unable to go to work can find the courage to venture out for unnecessary fast food, together with a vital trip to the seaside.

Ms Fisher, 34, said: “I was cycling over a bridge over the A14 when I saw the roads jam-packed with people trying to get to McDonald’s drive-thru.

“The queues reached Felixstowe in one direction and Stowmarket in the other.

“Have these people got nothing better to do? Like staying at home and remaining safe?”

Ipswich police had to close one of the drive-thru’s owing to the long queues.

Resident Steve Walshe said: “It’s madness. But don’t worry, all these people will be self-congratulating themselves while clapping the NHS tonight.”

East Anglia hasn’t witnessed amazing scenes like this since dragons returned to Norfolk’s skies earlier this month (as retweeted by JK Rowling, so it must be true).

As the lockdown trundles on towards the end of May, many people have realised they should have social distanced themselves from the fridge.

With expanding bellies across Britain, the nation is now facing up to flattening the curve of its waistline.

However, we recognise flattening this particular curve cannot be rushed.

Buying one of these mugs for yourself, a relative or a friend, at least shows you are thinking about it.

Dirty Old Goat marketing director Lorraine Fisher, 34, explained: “So, we’ve all put on a bit of timber during the lockdown.

“The fridge has been irresistible and now we need to fight the flab and flatten the curve.

“I strongly recommend everyone buys this mug as an incentive – and to remind them of tubby lockdown days when this is all over.

“It’s also a terrific way to support Suffolk Gazette journalism.”

COVID-19 update: Norfolk swimming pools reserve one corner to pee in

pee in the swimming pool

By Ian Bred, Norfolk correspondent

Norfolk has tightened up health and safety by reserving one corner of every public swimming pool for peeing.

The new rules are part of a package of measures to improve public safety and maintain social distances during the coronavirus outbreak.

From next week, the corner in the shallow end opposite the steps will be reserved for those who cannot wait to go to the lavatory.

County council spokesperson Lorraine Fisher, 34, explained: “It’s an effective initiative to preserve the cleanliness of our public pools.

“By asking our customers to pee in just one corner, we will maintain the integrity of the water in the rest of the pool.

“Number twos are still strictly off limits,” she said.

The news will come as a shock to many outside of Norfolk. Most people didn’t know the county had swimming pools.

Steve Walshe, an athlete from Suffolk, said: “I suppose we should not be surprised. With webbed feet, they are bound to make strong swimmers.”

Daytrippers warned seagulls have evolved since you last went out

seagulls with shark heads a new menace

By Martin Brody

Daytrippers thinking of making a sneaky visit to the coast this weekend is warned that seagulls have become even more menacing since you’ve been in lockdown.

Residents along the Suffolk coast have reported the greedy seagulls have developed predatory shark heads and teeth.

The new strain of seagull is ideally built to steal food from anyone foolish enough to take out a snack in Aldeburgh, Felixstowe, Southwold and Lowestoft.

Ornithologist Lorraine Fisher, 34, said: “The seagulls have evolved since we have all be shut indoors for the past few months.

“They are now pure killing machines. If one of these new Great White Gulls comes after your chips, you’d better hand them over with no argument.”

The mayor of Aldeburgh, which is twinned with Amity, was keen to play down the threat of the new seagull.

Mayor Steve Walshe said: “As you see, it’s a beautiful day, the beaches are open and daytrippers are having a wonderful time.”

However, some residents now fear the NHS, already under strain from the coronavirus, will be overwhelmed with coastal daytrippers coming in with missing arms and heads.
