How revenue streams work for popular YouTubers

0
YouTuber revenue

Are we finally past the days of looking down on YouTubers? The phrase is now in the Oxford English dictionary. According to a survey, when asked “what do you want to be when you grow up,” a YouTuber was the most-used response by American kids. And even more, thousands of these so-called YouTubers are now making a living off the platform.

So rather than turning up our nose at YouTubers, perhaps our time is better suited discussing how they’ve leveraged the platform to make a full-time living. After all, YouTube is a more stable way to make money online than, say, trading cryptocurrency or gambling at the best betting sites.

Branded deals

Contrary to popular belief, ad revenue is usually not most YouTuber’s main revenue driver. In most instances, it’s actually brand partnerships and/or sponsorships.

You see, attention is one of the most monetizable assets in the world — right up there with most specialized skill sets. YouTubers with high subscriber counts and long audience retention time on videos have shown they can hold viewers’ attention just as well, if not better, than traditional media formats like a television program or radio show.

Big brands with equally-bid budgets are willing to pay a premium to collaborate with these YouTubers to highlight their product or service. Not only that, but most YouTubers have very defined audiences.

Let me give you an example. Say you’re a brand like Tide. It would make sense to partner with YouTubers that speak directly about home cleaning — so long as they’re not doing the Tide Pods challenge. Viewers watching that type of content are naturally interested in the cleaning sector already. Contrast that with a daytime television show, where you can only HOPE that watchers are stay-at-home parents that happen to clean.

YouTube, and the Internet at-large, has made hyper targeting ads much more feasible than analog media. Owned by Google, few platforms have as much user data at their disposal than YouTube. We can argue if that’s good or bad for users, but for advertisers, this is a pot of gold and part of the riches are transferred back to YouTubers that want to partner with them.

Ad revenue

Alright, let’s talk about ads. As you know, YouTube sells A LOT of ads. It splits that ad revenue with monetization-approved YouTubers — Google keeps 45 percent, creators make the other 55 percent.

However, the ad rates differ greatly from YouTuber to YouTuber. There’s a metric Google uses to measure payouts and it’s called cost per mille (CPM). This figure puts a dollar amount of money a YouTuber earns on every 1,000 views to their content.

This is where differences arise and it starts with subject matter inside the video content. For example, advertisers for investment brokers pay a higher premium on YouTube. That’s expected since their clientele is more high-income and there’s a lot of lifetime value to gain out of them.

Therefore, a YouTuber whose niche is personal finance would have a higher CPM than, say, a YouTuber who reviews movies. Simply put, the business market for finance is significantly higher than film, which is reflected in the ad rates and payouts.

Affiliate links

Ever notice how YouTubers drop a plethora of links in the description of their videos? It’s especially common on tech reviews.

Welp, the motivation behind dumping these links is, you guessed it, money. Most of these links are affiliate ones, which has a unique tracking code on it associated with the creator. That means if you follow the link and proceed to buy the product, the YouTuber will be credited with the sale. Thus, they’ll earn a percentage of the transaction back from the website you purchased on.

This commission comes at no cost to you — only the retailer. Almost every big-name store has an affiliate program where YouTubers can apply and generate custom links from. And similar to ad rates, the commission earned by YouTubers varies by the product. Pricey items like a camera pays a higher percentage than a cheap ‘ol reading book.

Between sponsorships, ads, and affiliate links, YouTubers have multiple streams of revenue they can bank on to keep them afloat. So how about we stop making fun of them now, huh?

Waitrose trials child cages so customers can shop in peace

Waitrose child cages
The new child cages outside Waitrose

Waitrose has installed cages outside a Suffolk store so parents can lock up their unruly children, it has emerged.

The secure pens allows shoppers to browse the supermarket aisles in peace without noisy and badly behaved kids running amok.

Supermarket bosses say they are trialing the children’s cages at their Ipswich store in Futura Park.

Four cages have been built, each capable of holding one child of up to ten years old, or two aged under five.

“The response has been very good so far,” a Waitrose spokesman explained.

“Parents enjoy being able to shop without the hassle of their bored kids making a nuisance of themselves.

“And other shoppers certainly appreciate not having to listen to children shrieking and running around without being disciplined.”

He said the trial would last another two weeks, but it seemed certain the results would mean the cages being extended nationwide.

Waitrose customer Lorraine Fisher, 34, from Framlingham, said: “I don’t come into a pleasant and exclusive shopping environment like Waitrose to be faced with horrible children causing chaos.

“Their parents cannot cope with them and they all end up shouting at each other. So I for one agree with putting them in cages.”

The cages operate on a similar payment system to the trolleys. Simply put your child inside the cage, close the door and use the lock by inserting a £1 coin.

“The money and your child is returned when you have finished your shop,” the Waitrose spokesman said.

He added it was not uncommon for the children to get upset or distressed while locked up outside the store entrance for everyone to see.

“There is a water supply, but some may get aggressive so we have had to put up sign warning shoppers not to approach or touch them.”

What are the best casino games around?

0

Sometimes it’s hard to decide what games to play when visiting a casino. For beginners, it’s important to know that table games are usually the best choice for them. Together with slots, they are the most popular games in casinos.

Let’s examine why exactly that is so, and what makes table games and slots the best choice for you.

Blackjack

Blackjack is a relatively simple card game. It has very few rules, so it will be easy for you to learn to play it. On the other hand, unlike some other table games, playing blackjack requires some strategic thinking. You will have to make a decision every single hand.

But the odds of winning at blackjack are pretty good. Your only worry is the dealer. Other people who play at the same time as you, are also trying to beat the dealer, so you won’t be playing against them. You aim to beat the dealer to a hand of 21 without going bust. This means that the winner is the person whose hand comes closest to 21 without going over it.

Even though it is certainly better for you to study blackjack strategic playing, ultimately the dealer relies on luck as much as you do. In most places, the advantage the dealer will have is around one percent.

Craps

The table game that has the best odds after blackjack is craps. This is an original US game that is becoming more and more popular in Europe. For some beginners, the game can seem tough and intimidating, but that’s just a superficial impression: in actuality, the game offers you one of the best chances of winning in a casino.

The game has two stages and around 20 players can play a single game. The players roll the dice and determine the winner. One player is the “shooter” rolling the dice, and others make bets on the result of a roll. On the first roll, the “shooter” wins on a seven or an eleven. If he gets any other number, that becomes the “point” and the “shooter” needs to hit it before rolling a seven to win. House advantage for craps is usually around 2-17%.

Slots

Slots are synonymous for casinos as much as table games are, you simply can’t skip them. This is true not only for land-based casinos – when you visit any online casino you will find tons of slot games there as well, and they come not only with great designs but with different features, promotion offers, and bonuses, and other advantages for the players.

Why do people love slots so much? Well, simply put, they are super exciting. They allow you to win big, even extremely big if you play progressive slots. Another advantage is their huge variety you will encounter both in land-based and online casinos.

But be careful, the chances of winning vary greatly from game to game. That’s why it is important to check the odds for each machine before start playing it.

Roulette

Roulette is one of the oldest table games, and it’s still very popular. It is a social game, with many people standing around the wheel, attracted by its excitement. It is also one of the easiest games to learn, making it perfect for amateurs and beginners.

Simply put, roulette is a wheel with 38 numbers on it. The number 0 (in US casinos also 00) is green and numbers 1 – 36 are either red or black. The roulette dealer, called croupier, spins the wheel and a ball stops on one of the numbers. The simplest way to place a bet is on whether the ball will fall on a black or red field. You can also bet on specific numbers or ranges of numbers.

In the classic European roulette, there is only one zero and, as we mentioned, the US version has the second zero field (00). This means that in the first case the house advantage is 2.70% and in the case of the American roulette, it is 5.26%. In some online casinos, even a no-zero roulette is available.

Baccarat

Baccarat is a table game that comes from France, but now it is incredibly popular in Asia, and in Macau in particular. Although some claim that it was introduced to France from Italy in the 15th century.

This is a more traditional card game with a player’s hand and a dealer’s hand. You can choose to place a bet on either. The aim is to determine whose hand will be closer to the value of nine. You can also bet on a tie result.

This is a game that attracts high rollers, and baccarat tables have extremely high limits.

In conclusion

You should determine which table game or slot machine is the best choice for you based on the qualities of a particular game, your own preferences, and the odds of winning that come with it.

We made a list of some of the best choices you can make. Each of them comes with some specifics: some are better suited for those looking for excitement, some are for strategic players, some for those looking for the best possible odds of winning, and some are for those looking for pure fun.

Hopefully, this list will help you make the best choice for yourself.

Meghan Markle created the Euro Super League, says Daily Mail

0

The Duchess of Sussex is the brains behind the formation of the Euro Super League, the Daily Mail has revealed.

The paper says Meghan came up with the idea for an elite football competition to be screened exclusively on Netflix under the broadcast rights of her company, Archewell.

Her cunning plan has the added benefit of upsetting her brother-in-law Prince William, who is President of the English Football Association.

Meghan told friends Prince Harry is a rugby fan and does not understand football.

Californian business insider Lorraine Fisher, 34, told the Daily Mail: “If football fans were already upset by the Euro Super League plan, wait until they find out Meghan is behind it.

“Everything that is wrong with the world is Meghan’s fault, so it is really no surprise to see she is the architect of football’s downfall.”

Six English clubs, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham had announced they will be joining the elite European competition, and expect to earn hundreds of million of pounds a year.

Ipswich Town, a club that has won the league championship more recently than Tottenham, and won a better European trophy than Arsenal or Manchester City, turned down an offer to join the Euro Super League.

Instead, the Suffolk club insisted it was quite happy where it was in Super League One.

League champions and European cup winners turn down Super League spot

One of England’s most successful clubs has sensationally turned down an invitation to join football’s new breakaway Super League.

Ipswich Town have won the top division more recently than Tottenham and lifted a more important European trophy than Arsenal.

The Suffolk side is also undefeated in 31 home European ties, eclipsing other teams in the money-grabbing proposed Euro Super League.

With a proud record, it was no surprise the leading team in East Anglia was asked to join the other six English teams in the new Super League, announced to a fanfare of anger yesterday.

But the club dramatically turned down the offer, slamming it as shameful greed at the expense of loyal football fans up and down the country.

Spokesperson Lorraine Fisher, 34, said: “The six clubs of Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal are an absolute disgrace.

“Arsenal can’t even get in the top half of the Premier League. OK, Ipswich are struggling to remain in the top half of League One, but at least we have a proud football record at home and abroad.”

Former Ipswich boss Sir Bobby Robson, who went on to manage England, once summed up what football really means to the fans, and it couldn’t be further from the greedy Super League plan.

He said: “What is a club in any case? Not the buildings or the directors or the people who are paid to represent it. It’s not the television contracts, get-out clauses, marketing departments or executive boxes. It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city. It’s a small boy clambering up stadium steps for the very first time, gripping his father’s hand, gawping at that hallowed stretch of turf beneath him and, without being able to do a thing about it, falling in love.”

The enviable Ipswich record reads:

  • Ipswich won the top-flight league title under Sir Alf Ramsey in 1962, just one year after winning promotion
  • Ipswich lifted the UEFA Cup under Sir Bobby Robson in 1981
  • In 31 European matches, Ipswich have never lost at home, winning 25 and drawing six
  • Those victories included scalps like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Intern Milan and AC Milan – all, ironically, members of the new Super League

In more recent times, Ipswich have risen to the dizzy heights of securing a 0-0 draw at home to Northampton.

Because the club celebrates fair play, it has allowed small neighbour Norwich City to take some of the limelight in recent seasons.

Royal 2-3-2-2 formation looks short on goals

0

By Jane Seymour, Royal Editor

The Royal Family formation looks short on goals, with only Princess Anne up front and Prince Charles unsuited to the Number 10 role.

Fans were surprised by the line-up, although it does have a strong defensive midfield with Princes William and Harry, partnered by Peter Phillips.

But supporters are worried by the lack of creativity up front, and suggested maybe a football tactics book from Amazon.

Football fan Lorraine Fisher, 34, said: “I don’t mind Princess Anne up front on her own. She is a clinical finisher and sharp as a needle.

“But why oh why has the boss put Prince Charles just behind her in the crucial Number 10 role?

“He has no pace and is well past his best. This position only works if he is supported by two attacking wide men with pace and good crossing ability.

“Yet here we have Prince Edward, who has never scored, and Prince Andrew on the right side, who is more used to playing with the Under 18s.

“The midfield base is okay – William and Harry are highly competitive. But I am concerned about Sir Tim Laurence and The Earl of Snowdon in central defence.

“They are not too strong in the air and the Earl looks far too deep, raising questions about his positional sense.”

Some critics said it was a shame there was no place in the team for Markle, whose trickery had left many opponents in a state.

How online gambling works

0

Online gambling still appears like a comparatively “new” thing to us, although it over 20 years ago when it began. Gambling is diverse today than it was when it first started. World gambling statistics show that around 26% of the population gamble. That means around 1.6 billion people worldwide gamble and 4.2 billion gamble a minimum of once per annum.

There are many differences in the industry as compared to its initial era. Particularly in the matter of the relevant laws and the way it is governed. The standard and quality are much better than before. It is nearly impossible to recognise the early sites when compared with leading sites of today. Almost everything operates the same way in online gambling as it did back in the mid-1990s. However, people are reluctant to gamble online because they think that it is difficult and complicated.

Gambling Sites

Online gambling is expedited by gambling sites. Like several others, these websites can be accessed by clicking on a link or typing the relevant address into a browser. These sites are designed with advanced software that is often built-in but in some cases, we need to download it separately as it is considered as the main part of any gambling site. Gambling offered by the sites varies, some sites offer multiple forms of gambling, while others are specified.

These are the most known four types of gambling that work in the online environment.

  • Sports Betting
  • Casino Games
  • Poker
  • Daily Fantasy Sports

Online Gambling is very easy for the people who gamble almost every day but for those who rarely gamble, the process is complicated respectively. Following are three things required to use these gambling sites and bet or play for money.

  • A computer or a device with internet access.
  • An account.
  • Money.

It is impossible to access any website without an internet connection and a device. These are the necessities for using a gambling site. After accessing a website, you have to provide a few personal details to sign up. With the end of this process, it’s time to make a deposit. Mostly, People use debit or credit cards for deposits, as it is the easiest way. You have to enter the details of the respective card and once funds will be transferred to your account you will be all set to go.

Funds

The money for online gambling can come from credit cards, electronic checks, certified checks, money orders, wire transfers, or cryptocurrencies. People deposit funds, play a variety of games and make bets to get the winning amount. Funds are deposited directly by the debit or credit card and cash out the winning amount back in the card

Legal Gambling

Online gambling falls into a legal grey area. It is not legal in most of the U.S. Offices and servers of online casinos are placed in countries other than the U.S because it is extrajudicial to operate a website within the U.S.

There are about 70 countries that allow online gambling sites to set up shop, including Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, and some provinces of Canada. These countries have strict rules and regulations to make sure that casinos are working legitimately. They strictly check that players get their payments without any hurdle. Casinos must follow the guidelines.

Because of the questions, arise on the legality of gambling things get difficult for the players within the United States and other locations where gambling is not allowed. Because the banks of the United States did not allow money transactions from any gambling site.

London Underground introduces First Class carriages

By Casey Jones, Railways Correspondent

London Underground is introducing luxurious first-class carriages so well-heeled commuters do not need to mix with common riff-raff.

While normal Londoners must squash into packed sweaty and smelly carriages, toffs can enjoy their trip through the capital in an ornate carriage with comfy leather chairs, like the one advertised below, and a fully-stocked bar.

A man in a crisp white jacket will recharge glasses and serve fine sandwiches and canapes to passengers.

The news was revealed exclusively to the Suffolk Gazette after an alert reader spotted a sign at Holborn station this evening.

First-class carriages

While anyone with money will enjoy the new posh commuting experience, to be introduced first on the Central Line, not everyone is happy, describing it as elitist and Victorian in nature.

City worker Lorraine Fisher, 34, was furious: “Traveling on the Tube when it’s busy is difficult enough, but knowing these snobs in the next carriage are lounging around quaffing champagne is too much.

“One first-class carriage will take around 20 people at most, meaning less space for the rest of us squished together 150 at a time.

“I really think London Underground should do a u-turn.”

But bosses are not likely to back down. They had intended a grand announcement next week, with the first luxury carriage officially opened by Jacob Rees-Mogg.

But the sign spotted by our reader today was put up early in error, letting the cat out of the bag.

A London Underground insider said: “The bosses are furious this has got out early, but fair play to the Suffolk Gazette for getting the scoop. The service will start on Central Line trains and then move to the Circle Line, where passengers will be able to go round and round until they’ve finished at the bar.”

First-class carriages were removed from the London Underground network in 1940 after the outbreak of World War Two. But now things have calmed down a bit, they are to make a sensational return.

It’s not the first time this newspaper has broken a top tube-related story. A few years ago, we were the first to reveal a new Anglian Line would run underground from Suffolk to London.

However, some people now believe this story was simply the work of a creative Ipswich copywriter.
