Is now the right time to pursue a post-master’s degree in healthcare?

0

Living through a trio of lockdowns has done more than enough to convince some professionals that re-evaluating their career choices is the best way to move forward.

For many, this means pursuing a more meaningful role, one that offers them purpose, helps their fellow human beings or generally serves to make modern society a better place to be.

The search for a meaningful career is not particularly easy, nor is switching directions in the first place when considering the time that it takes to become comfortable in a new job, and not everyone has the financial backing to do so.

If this is starting to sound painfully familiar, and you, too, are on the hunt for a new beginning, returning to education could be a good move. Being the owner of a master’s degree can be somewhat distressing if you cannot seem to find the right job for you, but there is no need to panic, as you have already set yourself up for some superb opportunities, possibly without even knowing it yet.

If it was indeed the meaning and purpose you were after, the wonderful world of healthcare could be perfect for you. Whether you are already a healthcare professional looking to take your career in an exciting new direction, or this is the very first time considering it, here are some reasons why the ideal moment might be right now.

Roles to consider

Some of the highest paying roles in healthcare are accessed via a post-master’s degree, although in many instances, the money is a secondary bonus when compared to the critical and indispensable work that healthcare professionals carry out on an everyday basis.

Many of these roles are in high demand throughout the UK, so if you truly wanted to make a difference, a positive impact that took some pressure off healthcare professionals everywhere, education might be your way in.

You may want to take a look at some incredibly interesting and fulfilling roles that a post-master’s degree might be able to net you, as this could sway your ultimate decision. For example, a family nurse practitioner can be an immensely rewarding role, and moreover, great institutions like Carson-Newman University offer affordable and top-quality FNP post-master’s programs on a completely online basis.

The role of an FNP might be ideal for anyone who wishes to offer support to families throughout their lives while working in a growing field and forming important, lifelong bonds with extraordinary individuals.

Alongside offering direct medical assistance to families who need it, the role of an FNP requires a great deal of person-centred skills to undertake, such as emotional intelligence, communication, compassion, and understanding, making it a brilliant mix of responsibilities that anyone who enjoys working closely with others will no doubt find fulfilling.

Accessibility

Remote working, learning, socialising, and just about everything has to buck its ideas up to cater for the mass transition to the digital world, which is great news for anyone hoping to pursue a degree.

Some of the best degrees from highly reputable universities are now completely online, including healthcare options. Not only are they completely online, but the quality of the courses themselves do not have to suffer in any way since they have striven to achieve the best possible standard in light of the circumstances.

For many, this is a much better option than ever physically going to university in the first place, especially for professionals who have already made the most of their partying days and are looking for a more mature approach to education.

This level of accessibility makes taking classes from anywhere an option, and in the majority of cases, in your own time.

Since remote working and learning looks set to stay for good, at least in some capacity, putting off your vision of further education may be counter-intuitive, as this could play a role in the future of learning regardless of the pandemic.

The search for meaningful work

Feeling as though you are stuck in a stagnant job with no prospects or room to grow and develop your professional and personal skills can be an awful experience.

This can lead to some nasty side effects if left to remain unchecked, such as mental health issues, including depression. In light of the pandemic, this might be a more prevalent issue than ever before, so proactively taking steps to avoid it is a must.

This situation is not always easy to predict, especially for the busiest workers amongst you, so preparing yourself through a return to education may be the best way to unlock new doors that you may not have seen before.

The search for meaningful work can take dedication, tenacity, and integrity, traits that healthcare professionals everywhere utilise as part of their daily routine.

Some of the most fulfilling elements of a healthcare career might include:

  • The Chance to Help Others – Now more than ever, taking an altruistic approach to life is an undertaking that many are considering, so what better place to start than in the world of healthcare?
  • Changing Lives for the Better – The opportunity to make a positive impact on someone’s life, to be part of a movement and a purpose that is greater than just work and money, to give back to society and help provide the foundations of a nation can be a profoundly unique and fulfilling experience.
  • Developing the Healthcare System – For those of you who already work in healthcare and are looking to get to the next level, the chance to make significant changes and grow alongside the system itself might be the ideal journey to embark on with a post-master’s certificate. This might mean becoming a researcher, an advanced clinical practitioner, or a nurse educator, for example.

 Work and learn

There is no need to give up your current job to get your new qualification just yet; in fact, your current position will likely benefit from your new learning endeavour.

Thanks to online education, you can complete your course at a time that best suits you. This flexibility is perhaps one of the main reasons practicing professionals decide to turn to the digital world in the first place.

Alongside the convenience factor, the chance to learn as you work can allow you to apply your new knowledge directly, in a practical and immediate sense, a luxury that many students no doubt wish they could have experienced before sticking out the entirety of their course.

At a time when job markets seem fairly uncertain, taking advantage of every digital opportunity that arises is probably a good way to prepare yourself for the future while keeping your current job safe.

Supporting the future of healthcare

For healthcare to flourish and continue to do so well into the future, a new generation of professionals needs to be inspired to take up careers.

Not only does this new generation need to be inspired, but in order to make sure that they are able to do the best job possible, they need to have the right level of training, direction, support, and education.

The number of yearly nursing applications rose to 48,830 in 2021, which is, of course, fantastic for the UK’s aims to reduce the nursing shortage, but this figure may also suggest that work needs to be done if these hopeful healthcare professionals are to be sufficiently trained and integrated into an effective system in the future.

If you do decide to go for a post-master’s degree in healthcare, this responsibility could fall upon your shoulders. Depending on the nature of your existing master’s degree, you might already possess the traits and skills needed to find a fulfilling career in securing and supporting the future of healthcare.

The chance to become a leader

Even if you feel you are a natural-born leader and have the awareness, drive, ambition, decision-making ability, and strength to work under high-pressure environments, unfortunately, and somewhat frustratingly, this is not always enough.

A post-master’s qualification could be all that stands between you and the next stage of your career, one in which you are a leader that thrives on responsibility, communication, and the ability to offer tangible results in a vital field of work.

Leaders are, in fact, made by their environment, their training, experiences, and education, so it is never too late to start preparing yourself to make the leap. Striving to keep learning throughout life is often merely just a part of what makes someone a well-rounded, diverse, and sought-after professional, so returning to university, even in a virtual capacity, should always be worth your consideration.

The role of a leader in the world of healthcare is extremely varied, full of opportunities to progress, and crucial to the integrity of the system as a whole. In a time of uncertain futures, healthcare leaders are irreplaceable and highly respected. You will no doubt learn this throughout your time spent on the post-master’s certificate, along with a wealth of other important lessons, such as:

  • Autonomy and Decision-Making – Although working in healthcare means working as a team, making potentially life-saving decision as an individual in the heat of the moment is fairly commonplace. If you are already a healthcare professional, you will likely be all-too-aware of this. Learning to improve upon this decision-making ability is a lifelong journey in healthcare, one that you will be able to expand upon in great detail while studying a post-master’s degree.
  • Making Sure the Highest Standard of Care is Being Delivered – Everyone deserves to be treated equally, and in their time of need, they should all receive the highest possible standard of treatment available. As a leader, it will be your job to make sure that this happens.
  • Support Your Fellow Staff Members Soft skills such as communication, organization, empathy, and adaptability are crucial in healthcare, so learning how to utilise them to support your fellow staff members can make everyone’s lives much easier throughout the day.

A great career switch

To some, switching careers can seem like an impossible feat, particularly if they possess a degree in a totally unrelated field to medicine or healthcare in general.

This is fact, not the case, as many degrees, especially science-based ones, will be more than enough to at least get the ball rolling.

Switching careers to healthcare in the final hours of a pandemic may seem counter-intuitive, but it may be the best way to get yourself into a perfect position for a bright future, thus giving yourself what is essentially a head start.

This could be particularly relevant for in-demand industries such as healthcare. Think of all of the other people who might be waiting until the pandemic is long gone to make their switch. It could be worth skipping the theoretical queue and pursuing an online degree sooner rather than later for this very reason.

If you happen to have a master’s degree in a subject that seems totally unrelated, there are still plenty of chances for you to start your journey in healthcare. Feeling as though you are disconnected from your undergraduate degree is totally normal and even quite common, so switching disciplines should not need to worry you.

It is never too late to start learning, so there is no need to worry about getting too old; the world of healthcare will always be here, hopefully.

For the sake of the patient

When news headlines stupefy and dismay with messages that scrutinize the healthcare industry, it can be easy to forget about the factor that matters most, the plight of the individual patient, their families, and their need for treatment and support.

Pursuing a post-master’s degree in healthcare can help you work on exactly this factor, the chance to offer better care to those who need it most. Whether this is through working as a clinical nurse practitioner, an FNP, a nurse educator, a hospital administrator, a nurse anaesthetist, or any role that you might imagine, at the heart of the job are the patients and your fellow staff members.

Is this a Banksy in Ipswich? Cafe owner hopeful of windfall

0
Is this a Banksy in Ipswich?

A local business owner claims the famous graffiti artist Banksy is behind this new exhibit on her back wall.

This week, Banksy confirmed he created ten pieces of work that caused a sensation along the Suffolk and Norfolk coast.

Now, coffee shop owner Lorraine Fisher, 34, insists this new creation must also be by the secretive artist.

“It looks like one of his pieces of work to me,” she told the Suffolk Gazette.

“It’s a bit of a coincidence he was going up and down the coast not far from here and then this appeared days later.

“He was obviously coming through Ipswich on his way back from his holiday. Perhaps he even had a bacon sarnie in my cafe?” pondered Lorraine from her coffee shop, The Daily Grind, in St Patrick’s Lane

“I just hope the local council doesn’t come along and clean it off like they do with the rest of the graffiti. It must be worth a lot of money. I am already dreaming about what I will spend it on.”

But art experts doubt the graffiti on Lorraine’s wall is a genuine Banksy.

“I don’t know; something about it looks a little off,” said Professor Steve Walshe of the Suffolk University art department.

Greta Thunberg in rising sea levels u-turn after visiting Lowestoft

Teen climate change activist Greta Thunberg has dramatically changed her view about rising sea levels after the misfortune of visiting Lowestoft.

The fiery young Swede was so horrified by what she saw she now hopes sea levels continue to rise and wipe the town out.

In a keynote speech to shocked tourism and eco officials at the Suffolk seaside resort, she said: “How dare you? This is all wrong. I shouldn’t be standing here in Lowestoft.

“I should be back in school on the other side of the North Sea. Yet you all come to us for hope? How dare you.

“Lowestoft is an absolute tip. Hopefully, sea levels will rise a foot or two and wipe the place off the map.”

Eco campaigner Lorraine Fisher, 34, was shocked by Greta’s out-of-character outburst.

“She must have been terribly affected by what she saw in Lowestoft to actually want the sea to rise.”

Young Greta, 17, was visiting Lowestoft to officially open a McDonald’s restaurant in the town.

Owner Owen Davies said: “She agreed to open the restaurant before flying home.

“But we didn’t expect her to be quite so rude about Lowestoft.”

Red Rake Gaming releases new Super 20 Stars slots

0

Red Rake Gaming, a famous online slots provider, has recently released a new game — Super 20 Stars. Though this slot was presented only on July 29, a few operators had it exclusively listed before the launch date. All the Super slots, including the new one are available to play on Cadoola.

What’s new in this slot that every Super games’ admirer will enjoy, and what classic features are included?

Super 20 Stars fresh features

The company claims Super 20 Stars has all the functions from previous Super games and the brand-new crystal symbols and multipliers.

Crystallize Symbols is the most remarkable new function brought to Super 20 Stars, and none of the previous Super slots can boast about anything like that. What’s this about?

A single blue star emerges at the lower reel on the net, and another one — on the right side. They indicate the position of a symbol that’s about to be crystallized. After these stars show up, the sign in between crystallizes, just like the bunch of others of the same kind. After that, a multipliers’ sidebar emerges. There, the gambler’s earnings he gains because of a crystal sign increases randomly up to x50.

What remains from the previous Super games?

There are particular features from each of the Super slots in the new one.

            1. A Roulette Bonus and the opportunity to gain up to x200 per wager are presented in the new game just like in the Super 5 Stars.
            2. There’s a symbol from Super 7 Stars that emerges in the mid reel and then broadens. All those signs stay frozen while other reels spin one more time and might bring a player more potential wins.
            3. The Super 10 Stars sign brings the “Super 10 Mini-Slot” to the game. It provides some extra complimentary spins for no cost, multipliers, and a “Roulette Frenzy” function. With the last, you’re asked to select a colour (blue or yellow), and the wheel then starts spinning. If the colour you’ve picked matches the one on the wheel after it stops, the multiplier you get will affect your result. If you’re mistaken with the colour or get the biggest number, which is x100, the play stops.
            4. The Super 12 Stars symbol emerges on the core reel and turns into 3 stars. You then get 3 complimentary spins, during which those stars linger stable. If the Super 23 Stars symbol occupies the whole mid reel, a player gains entry to the “Lucky Reel” feature where he can win 3 types of jackpots — Minor, Major, and Grand.
            5. The Super 15 Stars brings the Stars Fusion Minigame. It implies the progress bar, which is shown on the side of the screen and is filled after every non-winning spin. So it grants the gambler an opportunity to gain more.

Super 20 Stars is ready for your test drive!

Cadoola casino already has Super 20 Stars listed among the slots, and every gambler is welcomed to try it. Test the game in the demo mode or go straight to the actual play! If that’s your first time on Cadoola, you also get a nice Welcome casino bonus per your first deposit.

Lorraine Fisher, 34, ponders new career as a truck driver

0

Suffolk Gazette regular Lorraine Fisher, 34, is contemplating a new career as an HGV lorry driver.

As British doom-mongers claim the supermarket shelves are empty because there are not enough truck drivers, Ms Fisher has decided to take matters into her own hands.

“I will begin my HGV training next Wednesday,” she said in an exclusive interview (again) with this newspaper.

“I urge all other women, men or people who do not identify as either – can I say people? – to do the same and save the nation from certain implosion.

“And to those of you I will see out on the road, get the hell out of the way because my driving is a little erratic at times.”

Business leaders claim there may be a shortfall of as many as 70,000 drivers in the UK.

While some of that is down to the pingdemic, and in part truck driving tests and applications are behind schedule, Brexit is inevitably being blamed.

“I don’t really care about the reason,” explained Ms Fisher, still 34. “I just love a big gear stick in my hand and munching on a Yorkie.”

How you can make moving house as painless as possible

0

When you’re moving house, you can get so focused on all of the annoying, tedious and frustrating aspects of it that it’s easy to lose sight of the fact that this is often meant to be an exciting process. The end result should find you in a place where you can be happier but getting there can be tumultuous.

So, you might be interested in stripping away as many of these frustrating aspects as possible so that you can get back to focusing on what’s positive about it. After all, if you keep your mind on what you’re looking forward to and working towards, it can help to make all of the hassle along the way feel like a means to an end instead of an endless obstacle that brings you misery.

Make transportation a breeze

An aspect of moving that can bring you a great deal of difficulty might be the process of getting all of your belongings from one location to another. While you, and perhaps people helping you with the move, may have a car that can take some of your stuff, their small carrying capacity will mean that you’re making multiple return trips which just ends up making the whole thing feel inefficient and taking much longer. Therefore, what you should find yourself on the lookout for is a vehicle that can make this whole part of the process easy – something like a van.

A van can offer you a very similar driving experience to a car that you’re already familiar with (depending on the size) but with a much larger carrying capacity, which can mean that moving goods from point A to point B become a simple, mundane errand instead of a titanic ordeal.

The question then becomes how you get your hands on a van. Picking up a used van is likely your best bet as you would find yourself faced with the prospect of much lower costs, so doing some research into used vans, Cheshire, could help you find some local solutions.

Give yourself plenty of time

Nothing gets the stress going quite like having to complete a monumental task in a compressed time frame. While you don’t always get control over factors such as how long you have to move house, taking control where you can to give yourself as much wiggle-room as possible can make a big difference. Not only may you find that the process is smoother and less stressful, but it should allow you to be more thorough as you’ll be approaching it with a clearer mindset, reducing the chances of you forgetting anything.

In addition to giving yourself as much time as possible, it would also be beneficial to have as many people helping you as possible. This can help you to reduce the amount of pressure that you are shouldering individually. Having to juggle work with all of the ins and outs of moving can create a plethora of things to remember, which means the more people that you have helping you through the process, the better.

Why are home-based franchises trending and popular?

0
home based franchises

During the coronavirus pandemic, many companies – and subsequently millions of employees – were forced to work from home. People adapted quickly, with many of those who had previously turned their noses up at remote working enjoying the freedom it provides. If the events of the past year have made you rethink whether your job is right for you, why not get involved in a home-based franchise?

The COVID-19 pandemic is one of the reasons why home-based franchises are popular today, but there are many others, too. So, let’s take a closer look at home-based franchises and why they’ve grown in popularity below.

What is a home franchise?

Before going into more reasons as to why home franchises are becoming ever more popular as a working trend, it is important that you fully understand what one is and why working from home is becoming more popular than ever.

A franchise can be defined as a business that is allowed to function independently as a subset of a much bigger and commercially established company.

A working example of this is a car dealership. Your local BMW dealership is a BMW franchise. It is allowed by BMW to sell its cars but is allowed to do so as its own company. It does not report directly to BMW, nor does BMW pay its employees. It runs itself sufficiently. Often, a franchise does pay a percentage of its profits back to the franchisor for its use.

This means that a home franchise – simply put – is a franchise just like this. The key separating feature however is that a home franchise runs from the comfort of one’s home, rather than business premises.

Home franchises make for smaller monetary investments

One key reason as to why home franchises for sale uk have flourished is that they need a much smaller monetary investment fund than say a new business. You can work at home rather than having to buy or rent, and then decorate your business premises. This means that it is less of a risk for those who are new to this sector, as less money has been tipped in. It also means that when your home franchise truly gets up and running, it will take a shorter period of time to be able to earn back the money that you initially invested. Not only this but there will also be a shorter waiting time before you can say that you have managed to turn a profit on your home business.

You are your own boss

By investing in a home franchise, you are in essence becoming your own boss. With this responsibility come many perks. For example, as your own boss, you are able to schedule your own working hours. For example, if like Garfield you hate Mondays, you could choose to have this day off if you wanted to. This makes a home franchise ideal for stay-at-home parents right across the country. It means that you can find the time in the day to do the school run, the food shop, and the cleaning whilst still having the necessary working hours required to put food on the table. As your own boss, you are in control of your own wages (after the costs of running a home franchise have been taken into account). Being your own boss also removes the need to interact with or report to an overbearing boss – as you are your own boss!

Home franchise figures and success stories

Another reason as to why home franchises are trending and popular in today’s world is due to the success stories and figures from the lockdown have been – and still are – emerging. For example, our own research has recorded that 52% of UK businesses are not founded in London, Birmingham, or Manchester as one might expect. They are actually being set up right inside of people’s own homes. This means that it is not quite as impossible as one may have previously thought to set up shop with their own home franchise. With the success stories of others flying around out there, it is easy to find someone who was in the same sort of situation as you are now who has set up their own blossoming home franchise. This means that advice is more readily accessible for those of you who are on the fence about the whole process. However, it is wise if you undertake it to do so with a note of caution at your own expense.

Prince Andrew warns against resuming flights to the US

Prince Andrew insisted today it was far too soon to resume international travel to the US after the COVID-19 crisis.

He says we should all wait much longer, possibly as much as 25 years, before lifting travel restrictions.

The Duke of York made his announcement “out of concern for the welfare of British travellers”, insists a royal pal.

But sceptical royal watchers insist it has a lot more to do with the fact that Virginia Giuffre has filed a civil case in New York claiming Prince Andrew abused her.

Giuffre, who was an accuser of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, claims she was sexually assaulted by Prince Andrew in London and New York.

The Duke has categorically denied he had any physical contact with Giuffre, and that he does not sweat.

Royal biographer Lorraine Fisher, 34, said: “It might appear at first glance that Prince Andrew simply has our best welfare at heart.

“But it seems there may be a little more to his concern about travelling to the US than first meets the eye.”

The Duke was speaking outside Pizza Express in Woking today while waiting for it to reopen. He is hoping to find an old receipt.
