Halfway to Paradise: Inflatable Bridge Nears UK Pick-Up Zone for Illegal Migrants.

CALAIS—Illegal migrants attempting to cross the English Channel have dumped their small boats and mega-dinghies in favor of constructing an inflatable bridge extending from the northern French coast.
Sources confirm the bouncy walkway has reached a length of approximately 10.8 miles, positioning its terminus just shy of the international maritime boundary. At this halfway threshold, standard protocol dictates that UK Border Force vessels arrive to offer escort services and safe passage for the final leg into Kent, some with and some without floating Noodles.
The heavy-duty PVC bridge features built-in climbing arches, balance ramps, and integrated water slides. Project organizers claim that pedestrian traffic can now maintain a steady jogging pace across the Strait of Dover, weather permitting.
“The traditional small-boat model suffered from severe capacity constraints and outboard motor reliability issues,” stated a spokesperson monitoring the assembly. “By transitioning to an interconnected, multi-stage obstacle course, we eliminate fuel costs entirely while providing low-impact cardiovascular exercise during the crossing.”
A Bridge Too Far?
French authorities have so far declined to intervene, noting that the floating structure strictly complies with regional leisure activity guidelines, provided users wear appropriate swim gear and adhere to safety rules posted at the entry ramp near Dunkirk.
UK maritime officials expressed concerns regarding the high-friction surface when wet, but acknowledged that stabilizer buoys make the structure easily trackable on radar. Border personnel are reportedly preparing reception stations at the 11-mile marker, equipped with towels, Vodaphones, hot coffee and cheese rolls.
Assembly on the remaining several hundred yards required to reach the designated escort coordinate is expected to conclude by Thursday afternoon, pending favorable tides and no punctures.
