Tennis fans unsure about new British Wimbledon hope

British hopes of glory at this year’s Wimbledon championships look doomed after details emerged of our leading men’s seed.

With Andy Murray not entering the men’s singles, all eyes were on a new kid on the block performing heroics.

But one look at the man hoping to become champion, Boris ‘Becker’ Johnson, has left fans shaking their heads in disbelief.

“He just hasn’t got the necessary range of shots,” said tennis expert Lorraine Fisher, 34.

“Although he does employ back-handed compliments when it suits him, he’s more likely to dish out a volley of abuse, causing the police to be called.”

Wimbledon begins on Monday and British hopes must now rest with rising women’s star Johanna Konta.

Tennis fan Steve Walsh from Suffolk said: “I don’t think they’ll be renaming Murray Mound after Boris any time soon.”
